Being
only half an hour from Normandy’s
large renowned sites (Deauville, Trouville,
Honfleur, Etretat, etc.), Le Havre benefits
from a unique tourist and cultural environment
and offers major advantages for an exceptional
quality of life.
Station
Balnéaire (Seaside Resort), Pavillon
Bleu (Blue Flag, high quality of beach and
water), Station Nautique (Boating Resort),
Station Voile (Sailing Resort), Ville Internet
(Internet Town), Ville d’Art et d’Histoire
(Artistic and Historic Town)... Living in
Le Havre is definitely a pleasure and these
numerous "labels" (seals of approval)
given to the town demonstrate what a rare
environment it is to discover and live in. |

With
400 hectares of forests and stretches of
water in direct proximity to the town center,
numerous parks and gardens and wide, tree-lined
roads, the leading town of Normandy (about
200,000 intramural inhabitants) offers an
urban quality of life appealing to all newcomers.
This
outstanding quality of life is partly due,
among other things, to the fact that 80%
of Le Havre inhabitants live less than 15mn
from their work place and that each of them
benefits from an average of 35m² of
green spaces, these figures perfectly illustrating
the feeling of freedom and well-being experienced
in Le Havre... |

Le
Havre takes full advantage of a privileged
coastline with a 2 km beach in the town
center and a landscaped and animated sea
front over 30,000 m²: restaurants,
cafés, playgrounds, suitable access…
without forgetting the famous beach huts!
This
area, much appreciated by tourists and Le
Havre inhabitants all through the year,
benefits from prestigious and very prized
"labels" (Station Balnéaire
and Pavillon Bleu) which bear official witness
to the high quality of its leisure facilities
and bathing water. |

Be
a sea fanatic! The Station Nautique "label"
reveals numerous advantages of Le Havre
as far as water activities and facilities
are concerned: 30 associations and nautical
clubs allow the practice of all marine sports,
including "gliding" sports (e.g.
surfing, water-skiing, etc.) for which the
maritime town offers a spot recognized by
their greatest enthusiasts.
A
marina with 1,100 mooring spaces, available
day and night, also proposes all the quality
services necessary for sailing and yachting.
On
top of that, the Le Havre region hosts major
events bringing together the most famous
national and international water sport names:
Jacques Vabre Transatlantic, Trophée
du Port de Fécamp (Fécamp
Port Trophy), France Sailing Tour, Championnats
Nationaux de croiseurs sportifs (Sports
Cruiser National Championships), Championnat
de France de Voile Espoirs (France Championship
of Hope Sailing), etc. |

"For
me, coming back to Le Havre
is always a great pleasure.
I have spent here the ten best
years of my life and Le Havre
is the most appropriate port
to welcome the Transatlantic" |

Among
its numerous sports associations, Le Havre
has the oldest of the French football (Havre
Athletic Club) and rugby clubs as well as
a leading basketball club (US St Thomas
Basket) and it also benefits from quality
facilities, both in terms of sports practice
and meeting.
Its
45 halls and 56 sports fields complement
the major practice and competition areas:
a 18,000-seat stadium, a modern multi-purpose
sports/entertainment hall of around 5,000
seats, a cycle stadium, an ice-skating rink,
3 shooting ranges, 5 swimming pools…
and more than 10 golf courses at less than
half an hour in the sumptuous scenery of
Normandy's countryside and coastline. |
